I was just reading IPlural's handy shutdown shortcut tip, and I figured a thread full of such tips would be cool.

I don't know a whole lot, but one handy tip I can pass on is something that I came up with on my old system.
It was very slow, and at that time I had 2050 fonts installed, so it took ages for me to open my fonts folder to install new ones.
I found that if you create a shortcut to it in your 'send to' folder, you could then install fonts, both single and large groups, by simply right-clicking them and choosing that option.

Hmmm.

Angel_Wings finds cars about as fascinating as her own feet... they might be cute and little and on occasion she can scrub and polish them and buy shoes for them but in the end, it's just something to get her from point A to point B, so at least to this human being of the female persuasion cars are a bore. (Then again, some people have foot fetishes...but I just find that a bit…well, unusual).

-And yes, in this day and age..."American made" or ‘Foreign’ made isn't always precisely so (perhaps 'assembled in____' would be a more accurate label with certain manufactured items).

*Yawn* I need to wake up...

And to answer:

Seedless grapes or seedless watermelons?

Windows tips are great, but I prefer asparagus tips in holandaise.

Assigning HotKeys to shortcuts: Right click on the shortcut you want to assign a hotkay to. Hit properties. There in the "shortcut" tab there is a "shortcut key" box that you can enter the hotkey into. Its always "ctrl + alt + something" you cant have just control or anything.

Holding down the Shift key while Windows boots (98 for sure, not sure about the others) will prevent all startup programs being loaded.

Since I never learned how to type, my hands tend to be located at one side of the keyboard (ergo, the left side and the right side), constantly shifting, depending on whether I'm entering texts or editing (select, delete and what not).

As for those hotkeys, I think you can use function keys as well. Dude at work has F8 hooked up to Explorer.

It's been nearly a day since there's been any traffic in here - so I thought I'd put in my tip!

If you use Outlook XP (and 2K I believe, I don't remember,) and want to bring it up for anything, you can use any Explorer or Internext Explorer address bar to go directly to where you want to go with the outlook: addresses.

outlook:inbox
outlook:calendar
outlook:today
outlook:sent items

etc. Great for those of us who don't want to hunt down an icon on their desktops (or don't have any desktop icons!) or who don't want to reach about for their mouse to dig through their start menus!
